Who's Safe in the World of Cosmetics?

 

Inspired by my last post, I have decided to dedicate this post to the Signers of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics. What the Compact for Safe Cosmetics says about that companies that have signed it:

The companies listed below have pledged to not use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects in their products and to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives in every market they serve. Several major cosmetics companies, including OPI, Avon, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal, Revlon, Proctor & Gamble and Unilever have thus far refused to sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics.

Wow! OPI?! Avon, L'Oreal, Revlon, Proctor and Gamble, and Unilever have refused thus far?! What is going on here! I didn't even know that until now. So, if any of these companies are launching campaigns for Breast Cancer Awareness, just know that they could be accused of pinkwashing! Sigh...
